Veg patch

I'm excited too see the weed patch! It has a little mint that will come out and go into a pot. I've cut most of the old woody Rosemary right back, but it will be replaced. A lot of weeds have been pulled out but more to go.

A cherry tomato plant is doing fairly well.

A juvenile wagtail joined me out there. Had to take great care not to step on him. He was all round my feet grabbing any insects I disturbed! Then he hopped on my shoulder for a few seconds. I loved his company!

After my finger burning episode, it will take longer than planned to turn the weed patch into a veg patch!

I moved a pan we had decided was too small, picked it up in my left hand and put my finders of my right hand under to support it! I did not know it was hot. Iced water soak for about 15 minutes, and my assessment was a visit to the hospital was the go! Second and some third degree burns.

Mr Quilting will need to get his head around pushing the buttons of the thermomix!!

Fresh beginnings

Just found a blog that I wrote prior to moving but didn't post!

We are loving our spot! We keep pinching ourselves! How can we be so lucky? BUT....we miss our family. Xmas will be strange without most of the family. I'll miss the boys excitement. Leigh Anne will be with us though.

Lindi, Kym and boys are visiting in January. Can't wait!

Cycads along the driveway.

Love this view from the sitting room.

Upstairs to my sewing room....

Angelica's spot - perfect for the teenager.

Some threads and some Lucy Boston! I was happy to find these blocks when I unpacked. I'd put the LB templates and fabric aside to take in the car. The packers did what packers do. All vanished into one of the thousands of boxes!!

My super piece of Sheila! Thanks Sheila! Just love it!

Chino and Toti at the front door waiting to be taken for walkies!

A lovely deck out the back. Often have a BBQ or breakfast out here. We live the the trees and tree ferns.

I need to get into serious sewing! So many half done projects! Attention mostly to Lucy lately. A few boxes waiting to be unpacked, Xmas stuff to do.

Have a great Christmas or holiday break. Enjoy!!

Relocation or is dislocation?

Too many to post all the photographs. Way too many boxes piled all over the house.

Pot plants given to family!

New home!!

Goodbye to Hedonist and this view.

Hi to the beach!

JUST GOT TO GET THROUGH TOMORROW!!

Transformation

Blogging has not been foremost in my life lately!

In June we hitched up the caravan and headed for warmer weather. We were not lucky. Cold weather followed us to Sydney. We spent time with family in Sydney before embarking on a family cruise, with family from Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Durban South Africa. We had a great time! Still no warm weather in the pacific though!

On our return to Sydney we headed to Brisbane, stopping off for a day or two in our favourite places. In Nambucca we caught up with great friends. This is the way to live! Next morning we tagged along with them to a open inspection of a house close by.

Well, we loved the house! After much deliberation, we found ourselves the owners of a new house in Hyland Park, Nambucca Heads.

We didn't get to Brisbane, but headed back to the cold in Adelaide to put our house on the market.

And now we are exhausted! The house is painted, spartan, sparkling, and on the market.

Some before and after photos......

UFO off the to do list

Another UFO is no longer a UFO! This quilt has hung around as a top for a few years. I almost threw it out! I had this idea at the time I started it, that I would wind some pearl thread on a bobbin and couch the shape of an African thorn tree onto the quilt, sewing from the back of the quilt. I liked the concept but was not confident that it would work. I was concerned about not being able to see where I was sewing. Also thought the thread would not be heavy enough to have the desired effect.

A few nights ago I was thinking of UFOs waiting, when this quilt top came to mind. Suddenly I recalled that I had bought a couching set for Angelica my Sweet Sixteen! Having never used the couching set, it would be ideal to have a go. I would be able to see where I was sewing! I had started the quilt for Ben and it would be excellent to finish it for his birthday.

The photo doesn't show the effect of the tree outline, pulling the various blocks together, but I'm happy with it. A spare block was used for the label.

Recently found another couple of baskets to add to the collection.

The little one is very cute, and great for POTC bits. The tall one stands in the corner with various rolls.

Used green tomatoes to make some green tomato pickle this week. This is a first for me!

Now it's back to this whole cloth quilt with many wobbles!

Happy quilting!

Quilting Workshop Weekend

The Sweetest Teenager named Angelica! (My S 16)

Last weekend in May we packed out sweet sixteens and loads of stuff into the car and headed out to Adelaide Sewing Centre.

An amazing weekend of quilting with a lovely group.

Our task was to design and quilt our prepared whole cloth quilt.

Teacher Heather is always full of fun. No stress!! Nothing is a mistake, it's a design feature.

A weekend of sewing this was achieved.

Today I have made further progress

Just loving it!

Your comments are welcome.

Happy stitching!

May

My blog is seriously suffering neglect! Why oh why? Is it the cold? Maybe sore arthritic hands are also to blame for lack of quilting progress.

I have finished a third ionic gear bag. We are planning a cruise, so I thought another BGB for face paint and bangles and stuff might be a good idea! I pulled out the Kaffe Fassett box of fabric and got busy. Happy with this one!

One more to make and then NO MORE!

Patchwork of the Crosses is also slow! I have had some highlights though!

Our little poodle loves a quilt and lots of colour! Toti loves Kaffe too!

Chino is happy on the floor or a vacant chair.

I'm looking forward to taking delivery of my thermomix! Can't wait! Pinning recipes and tips in advance! Got a bit tired of seeing photos posted by both my daughters and their menus compared! Had to join them.

The other event I'm looking forward to is a weekend workshop with Heather at the Adelaide Sewing Centre. We are quilting a whole cloth quilt on the sweet sixteen. Spent some time today drawing designs!

Always look forward to any comments!

Happy quilting!
